Mahima
Gadi at Joranda is the epi-centre of Mahima Dharma. Mahima Gosain otherwise
known as Mahima Prabhu manifested in Odisha in the first half of 19th
century. He is the propounder of Mahima Dharma. The Pure, The Formless, The
Inattribute, The Absolute is the creater of the Universe. Mahima Dharma
believes in equality, purity, simplicity, & virtue. It preaches
unconditional surrender before the Alekh Purusha. The philosophy, the code of
conduct both for the Sanyasis & the house holders believe in redeeming
the world rather then the self. Joranda has a temple complex which attracts

Purnima or Prabhu Purnima is the holiest & greatest festival at Joranda. |

Tapovan The Tapovan is one of the impotant spots of Mahima Dharma. It is a part of Kapilash mountain range & is located 15 Km. away from Dhenkanal. It is believed that His Holiness Mahima Gosain adopted his first disciple Govinda here. The place is important for eco-tourism. Abundance of medical plants in natural habitat is its speciality. |
