GIRLS EDUCATION

1.  Balika utsav at District level:

Girl’s hidden talents go unnoticed and also there is no sufficient fund in the Schools to organise different competitions. So in the year 2009-10 it was planned to organise one Balika Utsav at District level with a vision that mainly the talented girls of interior packets who are not getting scope will get a chance to participate in the district level programme. Total 160 girls attended the programme out of which 80 girls participated in different competitions like Jhoti, Rangoli, Puchi, Skipping, Ramp show, comedy show etc. Two stalls were also installed one was KGBV stall where the vocational items prepared by the KGBV students like dhoop, Phenyl, candle were exhibited. In the other stall the vocational items prepared by the students of NPEGEL were exhibited. This Utsav was organised on 14th Nov. & 15th Nov. the best and winners of different competitions were awarded and all the participants received participation certificates on 16th Nov. The Programme helped them to know each other, and interact with the children of other blocks.

2. Life skill-Cum- Personality development camp:

The above programme was planned with a vision that the girls will get a chance to interact with different resource persons of Bank, Police station, Post office, Doctors, and will get a chance to visit the above places. The programme was organised & 60 girls participated in the programme. It was observed that the girls were very much interested to learn puppet making which was demonstrated before them. They were also very much interest for yoga.

3. Supply of School Uniform:

This year School uniform is supplied to 56901girls. The uniform was supplied to the girls by organising uniform distribution mela. In the mela local PRI members were invited to distribute the dress. Supply of uniform had a great impact on increase in enrolment. Uniform was a bane necessity for girls because it is seen that in many interior pockets girls are using that dress even in this home.

4. Talent search competition:

Talent search competitions was organised is 8 Blocks 5 Schools of each block was selected and in each School 25 girls participated in talent search competition. Total 500 girls of the district participated in the talent search competition. In this competition importance was given for this pedagogical improvement competitions like reading, writing, drawing, Quiz, debate was organise.

5. MTA training:

This year MTA training was organised in 6 blocks of Dhenkanal district total MTA members participated in this training. Besides imparting training in some venues Meena CD was displayed. In many areas it is seen that the MTA members have become aware about the goals of SSA. There are also many best MTA who are deeply involved is School activities like inspecting looking work, sharing results of the students, organising different programmes at Schools. ONE of the Best example is MTA members of Balabhadrapur UPS of Sadar Block

 

1. Maintenance :-

Under maintenance head girls are learning vocational works, additional subject specified teachers are given to those Schools where there is need of teachers. Different vocational items are prepared in different MCS some examples are given below:

1. Kerjoli MCS – Badi, Pampad,

2. Kargoli MCS – Khali , Chaupati,

3. Gadanali MCS – Tailoring, Wooler work, Talapatra topi, Asan, Jhadu

4. Gadapalasuni MCS – Sweeter, Scarf, Tailoring.

In Chandpur MCS because of this NPEGEL programme they have enrolled, 1 out of School girls in Mahabirod MCS and 2 out of School girls in Jangu UPS.

In kerjoli MCS 10 out of School girls with the In School girls are coming to learn tailoring.

Annual sport this year was organised in each MCS where the selected girls from each School participated. The winners from each event were on aided.

        2. Award to Schools :-

This year award was given to 41 teachers and to 41 best Schools. The award ceremony was organised as block point on Guru Divas i.e. 5th Sep. 08. The School and teachers were selected by the CRCC members in which D.Is Hindol, Kamakhyanagar and two BRCCs of both the blocks were involved.

        3. Remedial Teaching:-

Remedial teaching was given to the low achieve girls basing on there self yearly result remedial teaching was organised for 3 months. Every month test was held and the result was comp aired with their half yearly result total 1025 girls were covered under remedial teaching. The last comparison and sharing of result will be held only after the final result in out.

        4. Student evaluation:-

Under student evaluation in each MCS talent search competition among girls and health cheek up was organised. Under talent search competition difference competitions like reading drawing, writing, story telling on meena was held under health cheek up, blood grouping of all the girls of the tagging school was done.

5. Additional incentives:-

Under additional incentives total 19851 girls were provided with free uniforms. This has ultimately resulted in increase in enrolment of girls.

6. Community Mobilisation:-

Under community mobilisation different activities were held like meena mela, cycle marathon, PRI meeting, CLCC training. In meena mela the out of School girls and their mothers participated different stalls were installed competition among mothers on Jhoti, Rangoli, making their girls ready for School was organised. In cycle marathon at chandpur MCS of Kankadahad block 10 out of School girls participated. This created a great influence on these children.

1. Maintenance per girls students:-

In KGBV for each girls there is provision for Rs. 750/- for there maintence out of which 600/- is spent for their food and Rs. 150/- is spent for their daily consumable items. In every week non- veg is given three days i.e. on Sunday, Friday & Wednesday . Their daily items like power, uniform, shoe, socks etc. are provided to them out of this head.

                    2. Stipend for girls ;-

Every month Rs. 50/- is deposited in each students account as stipend which will be given to them after they complete their study in KGBV.

                    3. Supplementary TLM:-

Every month Rs. 50/- is spent on each students for purchase of their writing pen, paper, notebook, colours etc. Different competitions like drawing, reading, and writing are met out of this head. The students are also observing local festival in KGBV and have celebrated Diwali, Ganesh puja, Saraswati puja etc.

                    4. Vocational training:-

Under this vocational training head children are learning dance, dhoopa preparation, candle and phenyl. The dance group of KGBV have performed at district level Sishu Prativa Utsav. The students will also appear dance examination. Total 99 girls are involved in vacation trainingout of which 60 girls are learning dances, 99 girls are learning dhoopa, candel & Phynel. They have also exhibited the same at Dist level Sishu Prativa Utsav. The dance troop of KGBV have also performed the Sishu Prativa Utsav.

                    5. Medical care and contingency:-

This year Rs. 75000/- has been spent towards medical care of the student weekly health cheek up the student is going on. In convergence with CDMO, provision has been made to supply medicated net to KGBV. Adolescent camp was organised in convergence with CDPO Kankadahad.

 

                    6. Miscellaneous & Maintenance:-

The students went for an exposure visit out of this miscellaneous head. Different expenditure of the hostel is meet out of this head.

Convergence meeting with ICDS Supervisors and CDPOS:

As pre- school education is a part of ICDS department so necessity was felt to organise a convergence meeting with ICDS Supervisors and CDPOs. A convergence meeting was held where 57 members including BRCCs, CDPOs, ICDS Supervisors, DPC, DSWO participated. Activities undertaken in ECCE and AWCs were discussed. In convergence with ICDS Department food is supplied to all ECCE centres.

Bal Mela:

This year Bal Mela was organised in all 128 ECCE centres. The Pre- School children should be encouraged in order to build up their personality it is necessary to organise different competitions keeping the above fact in mind Bal mela was organised in all ECCE centres running race, fancy dress, and ball through was organised. The winners of the competitions were awarded with prize and the prize was distributed by the MTA president.

Child friendly elements to AWCs :-

Play materials were supplied to AWCs to strengthen them. Total 1121 AWCs were supplied with play materials. This is done with a vision that the small children will be attracted towards AWCs with an interest that they will get a chance to play with there play materials.

Recurring Grants:-

88 ECCE instructors under SSA have received their honorarium for hard work from contingency grant their have purchased dettol, Soap, nail cutter, towel etc.
