CIVIL WORK

The Civil Work is a vital component of Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan (SSA) which provides infrastructural facility to the schools. The civil budget is 33% of the District budget. The infrastructural facility provided under civil head, promotes a healthy and beautiful educational environment that attract the children towards the schools.

v                 PARTICIPATION OF COMMUNITY IN CIVIL WORKS

The community i.e. Village Education Committee (VEC) plays a major role in construction of school buildings under SSA. Various type of activities like Additional Classrooms, New Primary Schools, New Upper Primary Schools, Dilapidated Buildings etc are being taken up under SSA which are executed by Village Education Committee (VEC) of the school. Their views, opinions, ideas are shared and best outcome is taken into account for an attractive and child friendly infrastructure.

v                 BUILDING DESIGN WITH PEDAGOCIAL CONCEPT

A standard building design, plan and estimate is being supplied by State Project Office for each activity, where modification etc are being done at DPO level basing on the site specific requirement. From pedagogical point of view emphasis given upon moral writings, pictures, pictorial black board in side the classroom vis-à-vis different child friendly element like slide, sea-saw, swing, ladder, TLM corner in order to attract the children towards classrooms.

v                 COST EFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Cost effective technology like filler slab, arches, brick chajja, stub footing, some shaped roofs etc are used so as to reduce the cost of construction from economical point of view.

v                 DISASTER MANAGEMENT

During the execution of civil works different types of Disaster Management are taken into account. Special importance is imparted for earthquake resistance structures. Corner reinforcement, reinforcement around doors and windows etc are provided as Dhenkanal District is coming in Zone-III earthquake area. Special training to VEC, Mason, TCs etc are provided through resource personnel. The State Disaster & Mitigation authority also gives support in this field.

v                  MONITORING & SUPERVISION

 Regular monitoring and supervision are done at different levels by TC, Sr.TC, DPC and other personnel of District Administration. Fortnight review by DPC and monthly review by Collector-cum-Chairperson is done at district level. Proper training to VEC and masons is given at regular intervals by technical staffs. Due to rigorous monitoring and supervision the civil intervention of Dhenkanal district maintain a very good position in all over the State.

v                 THIRD PARTY EVALUTION

The civil works are evaluated by third party through skilled person ells.  The works at different stages are checked and necessary action is being with for suiatable recommendation.
