NATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR EDUCATION OF GIRLS AT ELEMENTARY LEVEL

 
 

 National Programme for Education of Girls at Elementary Level is addition to SSA in the context of addressing the education of girls children. The blocks where the level of rural female literacy is less than the national average and the blocks which have at least 5% SC/ST population Gender Gap is above national average and SC/ST female literacy rate below 10% are covered under the NPEGEL programme.

 

            In Dhenkanal District out of 8 blocks, Hindol  and Kankadahad blocks are Educationally Backward Block and are covered under NPEGEL scheme. The block wise information is give below:

            The main objectives of NPEGEL are as follows:-

 

a)                  To mainstream no. of dropout girls children through opening bridge course camp.

b)                  To enroll overage non enrolled girls by opening of adolescent girls residence camp.

c)                  To enhance the achievement level of no. f low achiever by providing remedial coaching.

d)                  Empowerment of women through mobilization activities to involve them in promoting girls education.

e)                  Promoting improved quality of education through subject specific TLM, Teachers training, revised test books.

f)                    To develop and promote facilities to provide access to facilitate retention of girls and to ensure greater participation of women and girls in the field of education.

g)                  To improve the quality of education through various interventions and to stress open the relevance and quality of girls education for their empowerment.

 

v     In Dhenkanal district there are 41 Model Cluster Schools and 26 MCS Co-ordinators are engaged. In order to reduce gender gap and gender discrimination different types of training have been conducted

v     In each MCS Blood grouping of the girls have also been completed.

v     One of the biggest achievement of Hindol Block is that cycle has become the center of attraction for the girls .All most all girls have now learned to ride cycle and are now coming to school by cycle.

v     Total  funds for NPEGEL is required for Dhenkanal district.

 

COMMITMENT:

This year commitment has been given to reduce 5% of Gender Gap and 5%of dropout.

In order to achieve the above the following activities will be undertaken.

 

  1. Maintenance :-

 

             Maintenance grant is required for the MCS for conduct of the following activities i.e. engagement of part time Teachers for vocational training,like tailoring, candle making, preparation of Khali chaupati woollen work etc for specific subject, purchase of office stationary, repair of TLE, sport, medical expenditure, purchase of first aid box, organising annual sports at MCS point.

 

  1. Award to Schools Teachers :-

 

             Teachers are not awarded for their tremendous efforts for creating a better School environment and the best School are also not awarded. In order to creates competitive spirit among Teachers and schools for making a better School environment it is required to award the best School and Teachers.

 

  1. Remedial Teaching :-

 

           This year special focus will be given to the low achieves girls by providing remedial teaching; this will help to increase the achievement level of girls remedial teaching centres will be opened in each MCS. Remedial teaching will be given to the low achiever girls basing  on the QMT. After the remedial teaching will be over result analysis of the students will be organised and the result will be shared with their parents.

  1. Student Evaluation:-

 

            In Dhenkanal District under Student Evaluation talent search competition of girls which includes competition like reading, writing, drawings, debate, Quiz etc. will organised Student Evaluation will also include Health cheeking of girls.  

 

  1. Additional Incentives to girls :-

 

            In NPEGEL under Additional Incentives uniform will be provided to the girls total girls will be provided with free uniform to girls.

 

  1. Recurring grant to ECCE Instructors :-

 

            The ECCE Instructors should be paid for their efforts in building the foundation of the Pre- School children keeping the above fact in mind it has been planned to pay the remuneration of ECCE instructors.

 

  1. Community Mobilisation:-

 

            In order to make the community members involved in NPEGEL activities and for smooth functioning of School and to spread the message of NPEGEL i.e. all girls whether In School or out of School should be in the School and should receive quality Education. The following activities will be organised like Meena Mela, PRI Orientation,MTA meet, Badge to girls regularly attending  school.
