Particulars of organization, functions & duties

[Section 4 (1) (b) (i)

 

                                    During 1979 Office of the Horticulturist, Dhenkanal started operation with an aim and objective to make the

                                   sub-division sufficient in fruit, vegetable & spices production and to support the farming community through scientific approach to

                                   strengthen their economic background. Subsequently Office of the Horticulturist Kamakhynagar, and A.H.O. Hindol started operating

                                  with the same objective. Saptasajya Fruit farm and Nilakanthapur farm were established subsequently. 

 

                                  Mission / Vision:-

 

(i)                 To give thrust on production of  quality planting materials of fruit crops and expansion of area under fruit

crops like Mango, K. Lime,

Banana, Guava, Cashew, Jack fruit, Papaya, Orange, Litchi etc.

 

(ii)               Production of vegetable and spices through out the year in rural areas is a key role for earning livelihood.

 

(iii)             To attract young and educated unemployed youth towards horticulture and floriculture to solve unemployment problem.

 

                   Details of service rendered by the Department:-

 

(i)                 To disseminate technical know how in the field of Horticulture through the field functionaries.

 

(ii)               To supply quality planting materials to the farmers in time.

 

(iii)             To keep liaison with other line department, District Administration and Banking Institutions on horticulture

activities for development of farming community.
