(b) Asha training : Both induction and thematic training has been provided to ASHA for 16 days( 4 days x4 modules). The training programmes were conducted in all block PHCs/CHCs involving NGOs under PPP during 2006-07 to 2008-09. The detail status of training of ASHA is given below.

 Qualitative outcomes of ASHA Training:

  • Attendance  of ASHA is almost 99% in the training

  • Active participation in the community development process after the training

  • Community level awareness has increased.

  • Institutional Delivery, full immunization and Sterilization have been increased and home delivery has got reduced.  

  • ASHA develops confidence to work in community. 

  • Pre-knowledge and post assessment have been conducted to provide necessary inputs and to assess quality 

  • Quality has been ensured through regular monitoring and supervision by different teams

  • ASHAs have been engaged in various developmental activities like promoting household sanitation, facilitating savings and credit through SHGs etc.

First Aid Training for ASHAs- The First AID training for all ASHAs has been completed in all the blocks of the  district.  The training was provided by the resource persons of the St. Jhon Ambulance centre, Bhubaneswar. During the training the ASHAs were provided teaching on the relevance of   first aid,Respiration,Circulation of Blood,Shock,Wound and bleeding, Nervous system and unconsciousness,Injuries to bones,Injuries to muscles & ligament of joints, Use of dressing materials, use of triangular bandages , and triangular bandages , demonstration and practice of various types of Bandages, adult with no heart beat, types of wounds. types of bleeding, foreign body in wounds, bleeding from nose, mouth eye and palm, Blood grouping and transfusion. Burns classification, areas of burns and depth of burns, management of poison Bites and stings, snake bites, Dog bites, insect bites, causes of fractures, types of fractures, dislocation, strain, sprain, cramp, etc

Supply of Drug Kits to ASHA:

All the ASHAs has bas supplied with the drug kits intended to treat the minor ailments as per the need of the community .

ASHA mentoring group

ASHA mentoring group has been constituted at the district and block level. In the district, ASHA mentoring meetings have been organized twice and discussed on the different issues of ASHAs.

Opening of personal Bank Accounts:-for the purpose of streaming the incentive payment to ASHAs, the personal bank accounts of all ASHAs have been opened in the banks. The monthly incentives are being transferred to the personal account of ASHAs.

ASHA Award

To inspire the ASHA’s, it has been decided to award best performer ASHA at the District and Block level. 7nos ASHA’s were awarded on 26th January 2009 by the Hon’ble Member of Paliament Sj Tathagat Satpathy and Hon’ble ZP President Mrs Rebati Behera and Block Level Award has been given to selected ASHA in all Blocks during 2008-09.

ASHA uniform

ASHA uniform has been distributed to 972 ASHA in 8 blocks.

Monthly ASHA sector level meeting

The monthly ASHA sector meeting are being regularly organized in every sector in the district. The  ANM, sector -in-charge, ASHA and two block level personnel remain present in the meeting. Here the different issues of ASHAs, and the different strategies are discussed in the meeting.

Block Level ASHA Diwas

Every month the block level ASHA Diwas is being organised in Block PHC/CHC. The ANMs. sector-in charge, MO(I/C), BPO, BADA, BEE, BPO are called to the meeting. Here the different issues coming up in the ASHA sector meeting are discussed in the block under the chairmanship of block MO(I/C)

District Level ASHA Diwas

Quartely district level ASHA Diwas is being organised in the district under the chairmanship of Chief District Medical Officer. The DPM, ADMO(FW), all block MO(I/C), BPO, Aush doctors, two members from ASHA Mentoring group remain present in the meeting. Those issues that came up in the Block level ASHA diwas and that require the district intervention, are discussed in the district and strategies are developed for its solution.
