Various kinds of handicraft products have been preserved and residing in the district of Dhenkanal. The crafts and skills have been preserved by the communication of the district.. Local skilled workers, artisans in different packets of the district are engaged in production of various types of handicraft items. For assisting and encouraging various crafts, improving the working and living condition, enhancing the arts and crafts and skills may programme are undertaken by DIC. Woolen carpet Rasol of Hindol Block Siminoi of Odapada Block Financial assistance is given by DIC, Dhenkanal to the Handicraft Co-operative Societies by providing funds on share capital, purchase of tools and equipments construction of show room-cum-godown and financial assistance is also given to the individual artisans under rehabilitation of Handicraft scheme, for marketing support the artisans are also attended the exhibition through DIC in side and out side the State and sale their product to OSC Handicraft Corporation. DHOKRA CASTING( SADEIBERENI & KHAJURIAKATA) The ancient craft of Dhokra is found in the artisan village at Sadeibereni of Sadar Block & Khajuriakata of Hindol Block of Dhenkanal district. In Sadeibereni 78 Nos. of artisans are engaged in this craft and registered a co-operative society i.e. Navajeeban Indl. co-operative society. In Khajuriakata 34 Nos of artisans are engaged in this craft and registered one co-operative society i.e. Laxminarayan Indl. co-operative society. They make artistic pieces such as Animals, Box,Man, Jagar, Dolls etc. which have brought from to the district since last three years .,the artisans have received state award for their excellence of work. The Dhokra craft have good market outside the country. The artisans sell the artistic pieces inside and out side the state.This decorative item about cost of 10 to 12 lakhs and marketed in Delhi which are exported to the outside the country . For promotion of craft DIC, Dhenkanal have provided Rs.1.50 lakhs to Navajeeban Indl. Co-operative society and Rs.1.44 lakhs to Laxminarayan Industrial Co-operative society for construction of work shed ,and show room-cum-godown and purchase of tools and equipments, share capital , managerial subsidy etc. From time to time training programme and design work shop are conducted for upgradation of skill of artisan. Now two cluster villages are identified for implementation of Baba Sahib Ambedakar Handicraft Developmemt Project . The steps under various components of the project will be taken such as awareness creation, self help group formation, produce designing and diversification of , marketing of product , insurance schemes one work shed for each artisan family etc. BRASS
& BELLMETAL (BHUBAN & INDIPUR) Bhuban & Indipur (Odapada Block) villages are fampour for Brass & Bellmetal utensils . It is a traditional craft. 140 Nos. artisans are engaged in making Brass & Bellmetal items . They mainly produce utensils and decorative pieces. There are two number of Handicraft Co-operative societies i.e. Nua-Bhuban NFMICS at Bhuban, and Shree Jagannath NFMICS at Indipur. The utensils of of Rs.60.00 lakhs are sold in large numbers for household purpose. The Bellmetal items of Indipur are marketed in Delhi about Rs.4 to 5 lakhs in every year. For promotion of craft DIC.Dhenkanal has provided financial assistance of Rs.1.16 lakhs to Nua-Bhuban NFMICS and Rs.95,700/- to Shree Jagannath NFMICS. Besides, an amount of Rs.12.95 lakhs has been availed by the artisans under various schemes i.e. rahabilitation of Handicraft artisa, SEEUY, & PMRY etc. for upgradation of skill of artisans this Office has conducted training programme in Bhuban & Indipur on Brass & Bellmetal craft. Now one training center is continuing at Indipur since, 1998 & Rs.0.50 lakhs is sanctioned to Nua-Bhuban NFMICS for design work shop. |
